Although the implementation of the digital tachograph has recently been added to the way drivers'hours are recorded it is clear that, for at least the next few years, the analogue tachograph chart is going to remain the main method of record keeping.

VOSA have recently introduced new technology to assist them in their fight against illegal operators.

The penalties for contravention of regulations, whether deliberate or inadvertent, are regularly reported in Commercial Motor and Motor Transport every week. In addition to the driver getting a conviction, don't forget that every conviction your employee's receive is entered on your '0' licence record. This is then evidence of failure to comply with the declaration made in the application for the Operator licence, which may result in disciplinary action being taken by the Traffic Commissioner. It is therefore vitally important to make sure your drivers are always working within the law. The only way you can be sure that the drivers regs. are being adhered to is to have the tacho's regularly analysed.

The Road Haulage Association has been giving a service to the industry since 1969. Our reputation for providing a high quality analysis service, producing easy to understand reports has led to the RHA Smartanalysis growing into a specialist division of the Association. Our ever-expanding customer base demonstrates the confidence members have in the service provided by their own Association and we have customers as far afield as Scotland, Cornwall and Northern Ireland. Another benefit is that we don't operate a fixed term contract, locking you into using our system.

One of the features of our service which members find attractive is the presentation and clarity of our reports. Our reports are produced on high quality printers using standard A4 size paper. The benefits of this system are the constant, high density, print quality and the ability to file reports in a standard filing system, thus providing a simple, user-friendly service.

We can also offer competitively priced in-house drivers' hours and tachograph refresher courses for managers and drivers, through RHA National Training. All RHA Smartanalysis and National Training staff are fully trained in drivers' hours and tachograph legislation.
