The penalties for contravention of regulations, whether deliberate or inadvertent, are regularly reported in Commercial Motor and Motor Transport every week. In addition to the driver getting a conviction, don't forget that every conviction your employee's receive is entered on your '0' licence record. This is then evidence of failure to comply with the declaration made in the application for the Operator licence, which may result in disciplinary action being taken by the Traffic Commissioner. It is therefore vitally important to make sure your drivers are always working within the law.
