RHA Security Audit Service Launched on 7 November 2006 The RHA has been working closely with ACPO and the insurance industry to provide an industry wide system to help operators of all types of commercial vehicles fight back against the criminals and satisfy potential customers that all reasonable steps have been taken to secure loads, vehicles and premises.

Crime - The Industry Fights Back

Criminal attacks on the Road Haulage Industry continue unabated.

Figures published by Truckpol in their Quarterly Report for January to March 2006 reveal among other things that;

·        Combined Values of loads and vehicles reported stolen to be £26 Million

·        Average loss per incident £31,000

·        Hijacks reported in the same quarter 2004 totalled 7

·        In 2006 this had increased five fold to 38

·        Theft of vehicles accounted for 43% of incidents

·        Theft from vehicles accounted for 36%

·        The most targeted products were NOT “high value” goods, but Household Goods and  building goods/plant and machinery

·        Violence against lorry drivers continues its upward trend

Unfortunately, each of these incidents represents individual loss, worry, inconvenience and impacts on insurance claims history.

Take control of your security and take control of your insurance costs.

The RHA has been working closely with ACPO and the insurance industry to develop an industry wide system which can help operators of all types of commercial vehicles to fight back against the criminals and satisfy potential customers that all reasonable steps have been taken to secure loads, vehicles and premises.

We are proud to announce the launch of the RHA Security Audit Service

Operators can have their security procedures assessed by Police trained RHA staff assessors and those that achieve the required level will be awarded the Standard.

For those whose standards do not reach the necessary level in the first instance, an action plan will be provided to enable the operator to achieve compliance.

Can you as an operator afford not to be in control of your security standards?

Can you as a customer afford to offer carriage of your goods to a haulier who has not reached the standard?

Unfortunately, criminal activity tends to be displaced to the easier target, to ensure your company is not the easy target contact RHA National Training on 01733 261456 or email training@rha.net for further details.
